METABOLIZING
TIME AND SPACE
Book Design,Typography, Photography, Illustration, 3D Blender
           PROJECT BRIEF
Metabolizing Time and Space is a documentary zine centered on St. Andrew’s Playground in Brooklyn. The project began as a site-based study, observing how time, movement, and interaction shape the space throughout the day.

Focusing on moments of circulation, pause, and connection, the work asks how a site’s energy can be documented beyond static representation. The goal was to understand the playground as a living environment and to explore how its rhythms and transformations can be captured through both visual and material approaches.

            TRANSLATION
The observations were translated into a tactile and spatial visual system that extends the format of the documentary photo book. Through time-based materials and hands-on processes, the project reconstructs the playground as a narrative of movement and connection.

A speculative 3D redesign of the site, constructed from wood dust, acts as both model and metaphor. The material accumulates, compresses, and reshapes, reflecting how energy circulates and returns within the playground. Combined with photographic documentation, the zine becomes a visual compendium where the site is not only recorded, but re-formed through material and time.
